Important Information about Brexit

TLDR - The ordering process for our customers in the UK seems to be unaffected now that Brexit is completed.  Our customers are still responsible for remitting VAT during import (i.e. we are not required to collect VAT at the point of sale).

Karve Shaving Co. is a Canadian company and all of our shipments to the UK originate from Canada.

The UK left the EU on January 31, 2020, and was in a transition period with the EU that ended on December 31, 2020 (aka Brexit).

During the transition period, all trade from Canada to the UK was governed by CETA (the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement).

Now that the transition period has ended, all trade from Canada to the UK is governed by Canada-UK TCA (the Canada-United Kingdom Trade Continuity Agreement). Canada-UK TCA will ensure that Canadian firms see little to no change in the terms by which they trade with the UK.

Canada and the UK have signed a memorandum of understanding, which lays out commitments each country will take to ensure continued preferential tariff treatment for goods from the date CETA ceases to apply to the UK.

It is likely that trade between Canada to the UK will remain mostly unchanged after the transition period ends.  The UK government will likely continue to collect duty and VAT upon entry of your package to the UK.

However, until Canada-UK TCA is fully ratified and implemented, changes may still occur.  We will try to stay up to date with our policies, but may need to make changes without notice.
