The Project X handle came about from my desire to practice more artistic effects in anodizing. I wanted a platform that I could use whenever I came up with an idea. A blank canvas, if you will. But I didn't want that canvas to be boring.
I opted for something more organic, while still observing the geometric repeating pattern so common in the art of guilloche...a nod to the inspiration for our original handle when we first started.
This copper Project X handle is identical to it's aluminum predecessor.
The pattern is made primarily through milling and the process was tuned so that the resulting machining marks would be aesthetically pleasing. If you look closely, you can see the individual milling passes aligned with the centerline of the handle.
The pattern is cut into the body of the handle, instead of formed, which ensures that all of the edges of the pattern are smooth and clean, while still providing plenty of friction for wet fingers.
This handle is manufactured from solid copper and is bead blasted to provide a subtle matte finish.
The metal is uncoated, so a patina will form over time and the surfaces will darken. Each is furnished with a #10-32 thread.
